Peregrine

 Today the sun shone on me and the peregrine. I was able to get in a much better position and the sun came out. She watched dad flying about enjoying the sun.

Then I think she spotted me even at that great distance because for some time she stared in my direction and didn't move. Again these shots were taken from the car, I think its the car she recognises.

Garden animals

I feed my garden animals on a fairly regular basis but not every night because I don't want them to depend on it. I only give them enough for a snack. Here the dog fox tucks into some dog biscuits. I call him Broken Tail, If you look carefully you can see the damage.

After his biscuits he tucked into the dish of meal worms that were meant for the hedgehog. Normally that would not happen as BT doesn't call until after midnight when the hedgehog (Harry) comes early, about an hour after dark.

Peregrine activity

 This is the female. I thought she was asleep as she had been in this pose for several minutes.

But she suddenly came to life and appeared to be bright and alert. Perhaps she had something on her mind and was deep in thought.

I pulled back a bit for this shot, I thought this might be her nest site for this year. It certainly looks interesting. Going to keep a close watch over the next few weeks.

Peregrine

 Over the past 10 years I have photographed many peregrine falcons at their nest sites. Most were taken in Wales under licence(different in England). They were sites that were unbelievably easy to get to. One site was the other side of a ravine which put the nest at a mere 20metres away.

 The youngsters got quite used to me being so close and carry on undisturbed.

 Often sitting in striking poses, I am sure entirely for my benifit.

 The male I got to know so well that he would totally ignore my presence.

The nest that I have today in Sussex is a lot further away from the camera. I am hoping that I will be able to get closer but at my age I am well past climbing up cliff faces.

Mum peregrine

With such a beautiful sunny day today I thought we could take a drive into the country and find somewhere nice for a spot of lunch. Having achieved this and on our way home we stopped to see if there was any peregrine activity. Not activity as such but there was mum sitting on her favourite patch of grass sunning herself, by the debris scattered around it looked as though she had just had lunch too. As usual this shot was taken from the drivers seat of the car.
