Wonderful break but disaster.

I had a wonderful break on Hayling Island with a couple of good friends. I had never been looked after so well. Walking is getting harder each day so they got a wheelchair for me so I could get involved in everything. My only failure was my photography. An electrical fault which I managed to rectify but too late to use meant no pictures. The annoying thing was I had left a lot of spares behind so not to burden my friends car. But on returning home the foxes gave me a lovely welcome and its all back to normal now.

  1. Oh dear, Mike. Every photographer's nightmare - a failed camera. I usually take a spare one with me when away for a while, but I guess that with you limited mobility that is not an option.

I bet your foxes were pleased to see you and helped you to forget your woes.

    Best wishes - stay safe - - - Richard

    1. At my age (86) I tend to travel light and seeing what I call light you would understand why. The man next door lets his dog out to scare the foxes off but I am happy to say it doesn't work.
      take care Richard.

  3. Yes David, 5 foxes turned up said hello and left before I had a chance to feed them or unpack a camera. I hope for better tonight.
    Take care, Mike.

    1. Hi Frank, No they certainly don't forget me. They are often waiting for me in the evening when I put the food out. Take care.

About Me

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
