Fox update

 The foxes have stopped coming. Dad fox has chased last years cubs off so I imagine he has a new family somewhere. He comes round for his evening meal each day with no sign of the rest of the family. He has a favourite biscuit and loves black grapes which he scoffs before the others see them then leaves the rest for the cubs when they arrive a couple of hours later. I am hoping for some new pics soon.

  1. Hi Mike
    It's still very early for little foxes, here they say they'll be thrown in mid-March, you'd have to add another 4-5 weeks before they can leave the den... then they'll definitely be back in your garden... I'm already watching several buildings and hope to see the little ones.
    Greetings Frank

  3. Don't lose heart over the foxes, Mike. I am sure that, when summer arrives, you will be graced with the presence of youngsters again. They won't be able to resist the tasty treats you have onn offer.

    Best wishes - take good care - - - Richard

  4. Hello Mike :=)
    Who would have thought that foxes like black grapes.:=) It's just a matter of time before the youngsters eventually come for your special treats, and I will be happy to see them again.
    Take care

    1. Hello Sonjia,
      It was purely accidental that I found foxes like black grapes and the first youngster turned up this evening with Dad and Dad would not let it anywhere near the grapes. So there are stories to come.
      Take care.
      Mike.

About Me

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
