This is how it all ended

Well you saw how it all started well this is how it all ended. Well almost, in fact later in the year I found the nest just a short distance away.
There were two youngsters in it. I watched them grow until the day they took to the wing.

A pair of handsome young peregrines. I only wish I was fit enough to visit the site this year.

    1. Hello Frank, The story took place a couple of years ago. My age is a handicap on my photography so I am doing history shots. Hope you like them.

    1. Thankyou German, I was lucky on the discovery of the nest which led to the several months of observation. I do not think anyone else new of the nest and me being the only visitor the birds accepted me and I made the most of the situation. Take care.

  3. Delighted to learn that the courtship was consummated, Mike, and that they successfully raised young. You must have been over the moon to get such shots. Best wishes - - - Richard

    1. Hello Richard, I was enchanted by it all. It was a magical experience. After the birds had got used to my visits they ignored me and I got some good close-ups. Best wishes,
      Mike.

  4. Hello Mike :=)
    Lovely photos! How wonderful that you found the nest and could follow the young Peregrines progress. I must say that it looks like the adults found the perfect sheltered spot to raise their family.
    All the best
    Sonjia.

  5. Hello Sonjia, It was a beautiful spot and I was so close to the nest the youngsters treated me as part of the surroundings and as they grew up I was able to get close-up pictures of them. I would love to go back and see if they remember me. Take care.
    Mike.

About Me

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
