Garden Post

Still not getting much luck in the garden. The animals keep turning up for supper but I am not getting good pictures. The foxes arrive before the street lights go out which is about mid-night. The hedgehogs come very early sometimes before it gets dark. This is the vixen which is Beaties mate, I havenot named her yet.
Here they are together. They often play on the grass but much too quick for the infra-red camera.
As you can see from this shot she is a female and has recently given birth. As this all goes on outside my bedroom window I am hoping to set up a better camera system and get better pictures.

  1. Nothing wrong with these pictures. You really are rather lucky to have them in the garden.

    1. I have an auto-light in the porch which works well so I am hoping to get some colour shots. I have a camera with 25600ASA with which I should get some sort of result.
      Stay safe. Mike.

  2. I hope you can get your new system up and running Mike. Mind you,I would be content to watch those foxes for hours at a time as I rarely get other than glimpses of foxes.

  3. How wonderful that you see this wildlife in your garden, Mike, and can get such great shots. Even if there were Badgers local to us they'd not be able to gain access to the garden. We do, very rarely, get a Fox visiting - it jumps a 6ft fence! We've had up to 3 Hedgehogs a night this year, but they suddenly stopped coming, with the last one being seen three nights ago. I hope it's because they're finding food elsewhere. Take great care - - - Richard

About Me

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
