Fox outside my window

Over the last 15 months the animals comming into my garden at night to sample the food I leave out for them has shrunk from 6 hedgehogs, 3 foxes and two badgers down to this lone young fox. The animals were quite happy together, fox often eating from the same dish as a hedgehog.
Badgers didn't worry the hogs so there was peace and quiet. Now the same food is put ou at night and all I get is the one young fox who is the pup of the two adults. Also during this time the birds have also disappeared. I get a blackbird and a blue tit but that is all. No other garden birds have been seen for months. Something has poisoned the air.  I am yet to find out.

Another shopping trip

Jacque needed to go shopping today so I said OK as long as I choose the route. After shopping I chose the route home and went past the spot where a week or so we had seen a number of fallow deer. There they were again not so many but much closer to the road.
Again they were quite calm and took little notice of me and carried on feeding. The nearest one was about 30m away.
I watched them for about 15 minutes until a noisy motor cycle went passed that scared the males off but this one just gave it a glance and carried on grazing.

Historic peregrines

I haven't had a chance to visit the peregrines for many months and they are only a couple of miles from home, but a pal did inform me that he hadn't seen anything this year so here are a couple of pics from my files.
The best time to visit them is when the chicks are growing up and finding what life is all about. Here the chicks are having fun and getting plenty of exercise.
These two appear to be performing some sort of dance.
Mum keeping an eye on things, she knows what kids are like when they roam free.

About Me

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
