Last night I heard a scuffling outside my bedroom window, as the animals are often there during the night I turned over and went back to sleep.
When I checked the I/R camera in the morning it contained several pictures which were blurred. It was obvious there had been a scuffle between the animals. Whetther it was between a fox and badger or another badger was on the scene and it was between them. These are the only pictures. I'm not sure that there are two badgers squabbling or one badger arguing with a fox.

About Me
- Mike Attwood
- Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
Lovely captures Mike. I think if I had Badgers visiting I would be up all night photographing them. You're very lucky indeed to have such splendid garden visitors at night. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIts enchanting Marc, I'm too old to sit up all night but I must admit I go to bed pretty late. Not many people say they took that picture in their pyjamas. Stay safe.
DeleteMike.
Wonderful captures, Mike, even if you were not able to see what caused the fuss! Sadly, I think that our last remaining Hedgehog may have left us - I wish I knew why there was this sudden decline in visits. Best wishe - - - Richard
ReplyDeleteThankyou Richard,
DeleteI suppose things can happen with several species visit your garden. My hedgehogs rarely visit now I think because of the badger. I'll feed them and they can sort out their own proplems Stay safe.
Mike
That's what you get for turning over and going to sleep! It's quite wonderful, I think, that badgers and foxes so routinely visit your garden. And even though you snoozed through the scuffle, the cameras tell some of the story the next morning. Welk done, Mike!
ReplyDeleteThankyou David,
DeleteAs long as I can capture these moments on camera I will sleep soundly. Stay safe.

Hi Mike... Beautiful captures... Well done 👍😊... Have a great week
ReplyDeleteThankyou Ana,
DeleteThe discovery has opened a new door for me just as I thought my age was going to let me down. I can now photograph the animals without leaving my room. Stay safe.

Hi Mike
ReplyDeleteIn all the years I've been with the camera I've seen a badger and only for two seconds he looked out of the burrow and hey presto he was gone again and with you they live in the garden ... ;-)) nice observation
Greetings Frank
Hi Frank,
DeleteI have known that badgers were very local to me but it has taken over two years to get them to come to my garden. Now the trick is to keep them comming. They will always find food in my garden. Stay safe.
