Fox corner

This was taken on my automatic infra red camera just after I had set it up for the evenings work. As you can see it works well in any light.
This picture was taken much later that night and it had adjusted itself to take infrared and as you can see it made a good job of it. This happened while I was fast  asleep.

  1. It seems to work well, Mike. What camera are you using? I put four cameras out each night and have recently discovered Lithium-ion rechargeables. They are brilliant, giving out a constant 1.5 volts, whereas NiMH rechargeables start at 1.3 volts and steadily drop off voltage thereafter. I have mine set up in video mode, rather than stills, and I was having to recharge the NiMH every 2-5 days. Now the Lithium batteries are lasting around 4 weeks or more!

    Best wishes - - - Richard

    1. Hello Richard, I have a small stock of duracell plus that I am using untill they run out.then moving on to rechargeables so I will take your advice. I have several camera's. The best one is marketed by Easylife, I can't tell you much about it because its out on duty at the moment. I'll let you know a bit more when I find the handbook. Take care.
      Mike.

  2. You are a lucky man, Mike, to have these foxes visit you, even while you are sound asleep. What a joy to wake up and see the nighttime visitors. Take good care. All the best, David

  3. Hello David,
Its a different world out there when one is asleep. I have security lights that come on when sensing movement. Often I leap out of bed when they wake me and grab a camera but I am not very sucsessful at it. Take care.
    Mike.

About Me

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
