About Me
- Mike Attwood
- Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
Always good to have friends and act accordingly. Putin should take lessons from them. All the best, Mike - David
ReplyDeleteThankyou David, We can learn a lot from animals. When they come into my garden they all appear to be friends even with the local cats that roam at night. Take care.

Lovely interaction Mike. If you didn't see it, you would think the fox would attack the hedgehog. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHi Marc, It seems that my garden is neutral ground and the animals treat it as a no-fight area. I've had four species in the garden at the same time with no problems and one was a domestic cat which just sat quietly and watched. Take care.

Siempre estas en buena compañía, con tus adorables vecinos. La segunda foto es fantástica, un zorro y un erizo tan amigos. Enhorabuena por las imágenes, un fuerte abrazo desde el norte de España.
ReplyDeleteThankyou German, as I said to Marc my garden seems to neutral ground and all the animals behave well. Take care,

Hi Mike - sorry for the late visit - just coming out of Covid which, fortunately didn't hit my wife and I too badly.
ReplyDeleteFor a week after we came back from the Outer Hebrides we too had a Fox visiting and there didn't seem to be any problems with it in the company of Hedgehos and visit cats either. Sadly, not seen the Fox for over a week now.
Take good care - - - Richard
Your health is more important than a visit. The fox may have found a better place to feed, it will soon come back if you keep up a supply of food that it likes. I am one of the lucky ones with a high immune system and corvid has been no bother to me at all. Stay safe Richard.
