Animal stars

This is Junior, he's been coming to my garden for a couple of years for his evening meal. He came with his mum and dad at first. They stopped their visits some time ago, there is a female that comes but I am not yet sure whether its mum or his lady friend. As I have said before she looks as though she has had young recently so I shall have to wait and see.
This was a nice surprise. This badger has been several times before but it has been difficult to get a good picture because of the limitations of the camera it cannot take movement and the badger rarely stops moving and does not stay long. I am hoping for more pictures when I find what flavour biscuits it likes.

    1. Thanks Marc,
It took a bit of coaxing. Havn't heard much from you lately, is everything OK.

  2. This is all quite fascinating, Mike! Foxes AND a badger. You realize no doubt that many of us are filled with envy at this wildlife parade in your garden. These creatures know where they are both welcome and cared for. If ever I make it back to the UK I intend to add your house to my itinerary and I will slink into the garden at night. My biscuits should be chocolate coated Digestives, please! Enjoy what's left of the week. David

    1. Hello David,
No need to slink into my garden to see the animals, you can sit in our lounge and watch through the window. I have just been watching Junior tucking in while I have been experimenting with a fast shutter speed. Stay safe.

  5. It is a long time since I last saw a Badger, Mike, but I'd love to do so. I have been to a few places where they have Badger hides from which you can watch the action and it is always an absolute delight.

    Stay safe - - - Richard

    1. Hello Richard,
I have watched badgers many times in the wild but this is the first home I've had where the animals come to me. I find it the best time of my life. Stay safe.

    1. Thankyou Frank,
Some of the biscuits I put down have a rather strong smell which they can probably smell from some distance. I also beleive animals comunicate between speices so you could be right. Stay safe.

About Me

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
