Juniors grown up

Junior has been comming to my garden for more than three years now. He first came with his mum and dad but they have now gone and he has a lady friend who often visits with him. I haven't seen her for a couple of weeks, at this time of the year she may have something else to keep her busy. Junior when he visits collects mouthfuls of biscuits and goes off and comes back in a while and sits down and tucks into whats left. 
        
He is always alert, although he seems to get on well with the other animals.
In this picture you can see the eyes of next doors cat glowing in the background.

    Good morning, Mike: I think we would all be interested to hear how you manage to identify the foxes individually. I know that based on individual traits and slight differences in appearance, I can identify some of the rabbits that visit us. I am also curious as to the type of biscuits you are leaving out for the foxes. They seem to relish them whatever they are. It's great to see you deriving such pleasure from these encounters.       Yes David, this is Juniors third year and it is easy to recognise his behaviour patterns. He is always first one in at about two hours after dusk, always lays down and makes himself comfortable and if I am at the window he gives me a look and carries on eating. The others that visit are nervous and are a bit scruffy compared with Junior.

    How lucky you are to have been able to watch Junior grow to adulthood. And how exciting it is to contemplate that his 'lady' might be looking after the next generation. I am sure that I'm not the only person who will be eagerly awaiting news of developments.

      Yes Richard, I am getting very excited sitting up each night waiting for some sign of a family appearing. At my age thats hard work. Take care.

    A cat watching the fox. Very interesting Mike. I guess that cats and foxes don't get on well? But I could be wrong and you will know the answer.

My photo
Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
