Every night without fail I get a visit from the animals. I have 3 foxes, a badger, hedgehog, a couple of cats and they all muck in together with no squabbling and share the food. They have been joined by some young foxes who are behaving themselves remarkably.
This hedgehog is happy to share the food with anybody.

About Me
- Mike Attwood
- Evacuated during the second world war to a village in Yorkshire where I lived in the home of a good photographer for more than five years who taught me the basics and a great deal about nature. Well past retirement age I have been a wildlife photographer for more than 30 years. Red Kites have been my speciality for much of this period. I did spend several years snapping wheelchair athletes and organizing the British Road Race Championship. In the year 2000 I was awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society for my portfolio on wheelchair athletes. Most of my pics are digital, using Sony cameras and Sigma lenses. I used to spend many weeks each year with friends in Wales which is close to the Elan Valleys where I got many of my raptor pics. I now get these pictures more closely to home, specially red kites and peregrines. I support my pension by selling my pics, cards, coasters, fridge magnets and key rings etc. at craft fairs, something I wish I had done much earlier in life. I give illustrated talks to clubs and societies on wildlife and other branches of photography that I have been involved in.
Fantastic Mike !!
ReplyDeleteGreetings Lasse, Sweden
Thankyou Lasse, I love the visits and so do all my neighbours.
DeleteHow wonderful, Mike! Meetings between Badgers and Hedgehogs don't usually end well for the Hedgehogs, so keep your eyes open for trouble!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes - - - Richard
Thankyou Richard, never have any trouble and they often share the same dish of food.
DeleteHello Mike :=)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see another post from you. It surely must be uncommon for these different species to behave well towards each other, but it must be a treat to see.Lovely photos! :=)
Hello Sonjia, I've been doing this for more than 10years so I think they know the routine by now. Sometimes they arrive early and they sit outside my window and wait for me to feed them.
DeleteI think you have a little Noah's Ark in your backyard, Mike. The most amazing thing to me is that the badgers don't make a meal of the hedgehogs. If these different species can get along so well, there is a lesson for humans here. Will we learn? Of course not! All the best - David
ReplyDeleteHello David, I have thought many times that we can learn a lot from animals when it comes to living together, sharing what is available to us. Take care.
DeleteMike.
Ho Mike... Very nice pictures... Happy week
ReplyDeleteThankyou Ana, best wishes from the animals too.
DeletePreciosas fotos de los zorros y el erizo, tus aristocráticos vecinos. Mike un fuerte abrazo desde el norte de España.
